The agency was founded in 1987 by the late Stephen Smithwick and his business partner, the late Howard Clarke. Originally founded to service the marine industry (marinas, yacht clubs, boat builders, fishing vessels, tug operations and yachts) the agency has evolved and grown to widen its capabilities to handle the insurance needs of business owners of most every industry and the personal insurance needs of communities throughout Maine and beyond. Staffed by a crew of more than 20 insurance and support professionals, the agency serves thousands of individuals and business in Maine and throughout the United States.
